POSITION: Concessions Manager
REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Director
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time/Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train, schedule, and supervise concessions food and beverage staff
  • Assist in settling concessions event paperwork per event
  • Maintains correct stock levels utilizing prior sales history
  • Assists supervisor with day to day operations
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving
  • Works with other supervisors on distribution of all products to stands and bars
  • Ensures all POS systems are in proper working condition prior to the event
  • Understanding of POS system BOH/FOH operations
  • Ability to operate and finalize events in POS system
  • Accurately reviews quality product before serving to customer
  • Ensure health codes and liquor laws are followed
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships
  • All other duties as assigned

POSITION: Operations Staff
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for Changeover Staff. SMG Richmond manages the Richmond Coliseum, Altria Theater, Richmond CenterStage and Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. The Changeover staff will assist the Operations Supervisor in setup and tear down of numerous events.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Moving, arranging, setting and removal of items needed for events.
  • Set-up and tear-down of stages, tables, chairs, barricades, linens, and equipment
  • Assembly and disassembly of animal penning.
  • Cleaning and up-keep of buildings including buffing; dusting; sweeping; mopping; vacuuming; washing windows; cleaning toilets, urinals, mirrors, walls, arena seats, and trash cans.
  • Clean-up during and after events.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a bartender and server. The overall objective and purpose of the Bartender/Server position is to provide guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient and graceful service that meets or exceeds guest expectations.  The incumbent is primarily responsible for serving food and beverage in the bar, restaurant and function areas while complying with applicable federal and state laws, sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards as well as following established food and beverage presentation and service procedures.  The candidate is responsible for the safe and appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.

Major Responsibilities:
Include the following.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Work in a forward facing customer environment, for both formal and informal events
  • Mix and serve alcoholic beverages as well as food service
  • Take food and drink orders and assure that customers are properly attended to
  • Assist in general set up and break down of dining room areas as well as kitchen

POSITION: Operations and Events Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time/Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations & Events Manager at SMG Richmond’s Venues to include Richmond Coliseum (Arena), Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center, Dominion Arts Center (A theater formerly Richmond CenterStage) and The Altria Theater (A theater formerly the Landmark Theater). The Operations & Events Manager will assist the Director of Operations with the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the facilities and/or the events. This position will also be responsible for advancing/producing the events at the Arena.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Prepare a weekly schedule and report (either written or verbal) of facility operations for Director of Operations. Due every Friday by 4:00 PM.
  • Assist Chief Engineer (as needed) with the repair and maintenance of all facility equipment, including air handlers, compressors, energy systems, dasher boards, ice resurface, ice edger, meeting rooms, and office regularly and as assigned.
  • Coordinates the Operations activities with Operations Supervisors, event departments and event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events. Assist Event Department as needed in securing show labor request.
  • Implements and updates facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures for Operation Personnel in an ongoing effort to improve efficiency.
  • Ensures that Operations Department receives pertinent information for the most effective use of the facility and staffing.
  • Advances event details with clients via phone or email and disseminates to each department.
  • Oversee the “conversions” of the arena as it pertains to converting the arena from hockey to basketball to concert and other configurations as needed. Making sure conversions are done effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in keeping accurate inventory of building tools, machinery, cleaning supplies and building equipment.
  • Authorizes the request of equipment and supplies staying within budget guidelines and Director approval. All purchases $250.00 and above must have a purchase order and the appropriate signatures prior to ordering.
  • Knows and ensures all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, Risk Management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational problems and complaints.
  • Develops and implements a storage plan for all excess and storable items which could include: excess seats, hockey goals, basketball floor, basketball goals, tools, machinery and other venue assets.
  • Supervise venue operations employees, both full time and hourly, custodial personnel and oversee weekly projects.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Operations on all construction, renovations and equipment changes and/or purchases.
  • Supervise custodial training program to maintain an adequate supply of back-up custodians.
  • Assist in the overall cleanliness of the inside and outside of the venues, equipment and mechanical areas.
  • Assure cleanliness of spectator and public areas regularly.
  • Serves as MOD (Manager on Duty) as required
  • Directs and motivates subordinates in a manner conducive to full job performance and high morale
  • Meet with operations staff to outline work that must be done for the day/week.
  • Interviews vendor representatives and evaluates new products to stay informed on the effectiveness of new systems and operations.
  • Oversees work schedules and assures adequate coverage for department and specific events while staying within budget guideline and procedures.
  • Develops and conducts in-service training programs promoting cross-training; demonstrates setup, products, and safety methods and procedures to department employees (i.e., forklift training, safety) with the Human Resources department.
  • Has knowledge of sense of timing as to what activities should be taking place within a time frame to accomplish necessary tasks to ensure a successful event.
  • Has knowledge of the materials, methods and practices used in operations.
  • Evaluates work procedures and facility wide operations and plans and develops improvements in consultation with Director of Operations.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

POSITION: PT Event Staff-Indoor & Outdoor Events
REPORTS TO: General Manager or Manager on Duty
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time Hourly/Non-Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for part time event staff at SMG Richmond.  Applicants should be available for up to 20 hours per week.  Staff provides professional client services support in the organization and supervision of events within Bon Secures Washington Redskins Training Camp Facility (a non-smoking facility); monitoring the logistics of these events booking phase through the conclusion, by performing personally or with others  the following duties:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists in all aspects of event operations/fulfillment.
  • Work hand in hand with the various service contractors for assigned meetings and/or events to ensure success of the event
  • Assists with operational set-ups/tear downs.
  • Maintains and promotes customer experience by adhering to SMG Richmond’s policies and procedures of customer service
  • All other necessary duties as assigned.

POSITION: Operations Supervisor

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor at Altria Theater. SMG Richmond manages the Richmond Coliseum, Altria Theater, Dominion Arts Center (Carpenter Theatre) and Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. The Operations Supervisor will assist the Operations Manager with the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the facility and events.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all setup activities and custodial needs consistent with facility wide standards for all musical, entertainment, food & beverage and other events as needed. Assures turnarounds and changeovers are cost effective.
  • Assists in the coordination of the Operations activities with other departments.
  • Assists event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.
  • May be required to assist HVAC contractors and Maintenance contractors as needed.
  • Directs and motivates subordinates in a manner conducive to full job performance and high morale.
  • Meets with appropriate staff to outline work that must be done for the day/week.
  • Prepares work schedules for operations changeover and housekeeping staff while ensuring adequate coverage for department and specific events. Stays within budget guidelines and procedures.
  • Keeps records and other paperwork about setups and changeovers for operations department.
  • Enforces facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Investigates, analyzes, and resolves operational problems and complaints.
  • Serves as Operations Manager on Duty (OMOD), as required.
  • Enforces safe work practices, trains hourly staff on safety programs & attends monthly safety meetings.
  • Develops and conducts in-service training programs promoting cross-training; demonstrates setups, products, to department employees (Best Practices) with the Human Resources department and Operations Manager.
  • Oversees the operations and housekeeping staff on a day to day basis.
  • Ensures that all equipment is maintained correctly and repaired promptly.
  • Has awareness of time sensitive issues as to what activities should be taking place within a time frame and accomplish necessary tasks to ensure a successful event.
  • Has knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in operations.
  • Has knowledge of operation, use and care of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. required and a minimum of one (1) year experience performing building changeovers in an entertainment facility with a demanding schedule along with one (1) year supervisory experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                    

Manages subordinate crews in facility changeovers.  Responsibilities include training employees, planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Administration Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all elements of the Broadway in Richmond Subscriptions to include invoicing, ticketing, managing all new subscriber calls and distributing required reporting to promoter
  • Establish group sales targets for events
  • Work to meet promoter sales goals
  • Manage groups for Broadway in Richmond shows to include managing call volume. Prepare information for settlements with promoters and Finance department.
