Arena Racing USA expands to Richmond

Mechanicsville Va. based Arena Racing USA has secured 5 dates in the Richmond Coliseum to bring it’s fast paced, family fun event to the facility starting November 13, 2010.

Arena Racing is a fast-paced indoor racing series, featuring local drivers competing for cash prizes in unique half-scale stock cars on a one-tenth mile banked track built to fit inside a hockey rink. On a typical racing night, there are approximately 5 individual races totaling 230 laps of exciting racing.

“We are happy to be able to race in Richmond and introduce our sport to not only all the race fans out there but also to everyone that likes to have fun when they get out of the house”, says Ricky Dennis, founder of Arena Racing. “Especially when it’s cold outside and racing is typically dormant”

Dwight Johnson, General Manager of the Richmond Coliseum added, “We look forward to welcoming Richmond race fans inside the Richmond Coliseum for these unique, action-packed events!”

“We can only sell about 12 teams in the Richmond area to compete with the Hampton Roads drivers. For anyone that ever wished to own, drive or sponsor a race car here is the program you’ve been waiting for”, added Dennis. “When you hang a $10,000.00 cash prize to the season Champion you create a very competitive and emotional racing series for the fans to experience!”

Over $45,000.00 in cash and prizes is awarded during the winter season in this very family fun series.

Hampton Roads licensee Blake Murphy will bring 5 of their 15 events to the Richmond Coliseum to start the expansion process of this series in the Richmond area. This will set the stage for a full 15-event season in the Richmond Coliseum next year.

Arena Racing USA partners include Joe Gibbs (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Norm Miller (Chairman of Interstate Batteries). These two came to the Hampton Coliseum last year for a special match race that resulted in Gibbs hitting and ultimately flipping Miller’s race car ending the race early. Fortunately no one was injured during that race and both men came out of their cars with a smile on their face.
