Jones’ Game-Winning Field Goal Return Capped Raiders’ Comeback
For making the biggest play in a fourth quarter filled with big plays, Torez Jones was named the PIFL Vidswap.com Special Teams Player of the Week. With the Raiders down by three points in the final 45 seconds, Jones fielded a short field goal attempt on a couple of bounces, then spun, made a cut, and raced 40 yards for the game winning touchdown.
The honor is Jones’ first and the first for any Raider this season. His touchdown completed the Raiders’ 20-0 fourth quarter run to erase a 17 point deficit and earn their first victory of the season in a rematch of last year’s PIFL Championship Game. The comeback was fueled by the defense, which picked off Kevin Huff on three straight possessions returning one for a touchdown; and a highlight reel catch by Hakeem Moore, who pinned the ball against his helmet before securing it and running for a touchdown.
